About Us

Credo Theory of Music is the developer and sole publisher of the Credo Theory of Music Training Programmes for Pregrade 1 to Grade 5. The training programmes are designed to prepare music students for the Music theory exams of any of the following institutions:

  • University of South Africa (Unisa)
  • Trinity College of Music London
  • Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)

The Credo Theory of Music Training programmes were established by a music teacher, Sarie Cloete, in 1985. These training programmes have been widely used by music teachers and learners since then.

With her wealth of experience and passion for music, Sarie compiled outcome based Music theory training programmes that make Music theory easy to understand and fun. See some of the testimonials of our clients over many years.

As the training programmes are modular based and self-explanatory, it can be completed independently but it is always advisable that the learners have a music teacher to guide them through the process.

When a learner has successfully completed one of the Credo Theory of Music Training programmes, he/she will be ready to write the appropriate exam for any of the abovementioned syllabi.

The training programmes are not static and are updated continuously to:

  • Improve the products as we find new and better ways to explain music principles to the music learners.
  • Stay up to date with the latest changes to the Unisa, Trinity and ABRSM syllabi. In case of a change in syllabus, we will develop a free annexure and post it on this web site so that learners can continue on the new syllabus. The annexure will then be worked into the training programme to be ready for the next print.
